The Reign of Darkness
The humans of Khoudya have aquiline-noses and tan complexions. An honorable, generous people, the Khoudyai cherish learning and knowledge above all. Unlike Pellonese, who value martial virtues as the best measure of one’s worth, the Khoudyai judge people by their graciousness, conduct, and wisdom. They consider wealth and power only tools one uses to display honor (or sayim) through hospitality, eloquence, and studiousness.
The study of magic in particular ranks among the noblest of callings, and the Khoudyai place great trust in the hands of their arcanists. While true wizards still remain uncommon, they are far more accepted by the Khoudyai than by other human cultures. A number of Khoudyai city-states are ruled by wizards or by nobles with either magical training or arcane advisors.
In a land dominated by desert, most population centers are along the coasts and the hearts of these seafarers soar at the sound of the surf and the touch of cool, salty ocean air. Sea merchant, trader, explorer, and fisherman are favored vocations among the folk of the Sun Coast.
